Trees for Kids/Trees for Teens

Funding provided for qualified tree planting projects on publicly owned property that provide an educational component to Iowa’s students.

Eligible Project Criteria

Qualified public planting areas include, but are not limited to:

Street rights-of-way
Parks
School grounds
Courthouse lawns
Public buildings
Fairgrounds
Cemeteries
Libraries
Trails

Additional Requirements and Information

Grant awards range between $1,000 and $2,500.

Matching funds are not required, but they are encouraged.

An educational component must be included.

Trees selected for planting must be from the Acceptable Tree List provided for this funding.

Diversity of species is required.

Trees will need to be purchased from Iowa nurseries licensed by the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship.
