TreeKeeper classes are underway in Des Moines! There's still time for Cedar Rapids area residents to sign up for the upcoming Corridor TreeKeepers course. Register at TreesForever.org/TreeKeepers or visit the TreeKeeper link in our bio. It's the first day of spring! Soon the buds will be forming on branches and our shovels will start hitting the dirt! Cedar Rapids residents can reserve trees now through April 28 for our May 13 tree adoption event! Check out some of the great native species still available. This AmeriCorps Week we'd like to thank the hard-working members that choose to complete their service terms at Trees Forever. Our Cedar Rapids crew spent the day yesterday stocking Little Libraries throughout town. Great job! We are getting more and more excited to get out in the field as planting season approaches! Field Coordinators Nick and Peter hosted a "Grow Your Local Tree Canopy Workshop" in Kalona, Iowa this weekend. Part of the Tree-Mendous Grown series. Classes are starting soon - sign up today for our Des Moines or Cedar Rapids area TreeKeeper program! This course will give you the skills and tree knowledge you need to become an effective environmental volunteer alongside Trees Forever! The Iowa DNR recommends finishing winter pruning by the end of the second week in March to help avoid oak wilt. Trees need the freeze! The new trend of cyclical warming and cooling during winter has been stressful for our region's trees.
