Stormwater Best Management Practices Loans

This program facilitates low-interest loans to private and public entities for implementing environmentally responsible strategies for stormwater management.

Eligible Project Criteria

Infiltration practices, soil quality restoration, native landscaping
Bioretention cells, bioswales, and rain gardens
Grassed waterways
Permeable paving systems
Ponds or wetland systems
Green roofs

Additional Requirements and Information

Private entities use local participating lenders through a linked deposit arrangement, while public entities work directly with the Iowa Finance Authority (IFA).

The applicant must designate and have a commitment from the entity responsible for the long- term maintenance of the project.

Pollution prevention measures required in National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits are not eligible.

Loan terms and information:

No cash is required upfront.
Loan terms start from $5,000
Loan terms up to 20 years
Up to 3% fixed rate for the life of the loan
Can fund up to 100% of eligible project-related costs
Available through the lender of your choice
