Trees Forever Announces New Scholarship for Students Pursuing a Career in Forestry

We care about the environment; about our urban forests, our rural lands, the

Trees Forever is proud to announce a new scholarship fund to help students pursuing a career in forestry.  The Trees Forever Scholarship Fund, established by Margo Underwood, is an Endowed Designated Fund through the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation.  The Fund will be used to provide scholarships for students pursuing a degree in forestry at Iowa State University.

“As a Board Member and long-time supporter of Trees Forever, I wanted to do something to ensure that Trees Forever’s legacy continues into the next generation,” Margo Underwood said. “It’s critical that we get young people involved in planting and caring for trees, and young people who are passionate about trees should have the opportunity to pursue a career in forestry.  Educating the next generation of forestry professionals is important to Trees Forever’s mission of Planting a better tomorrow.”

With an initial goal of $50,000, we would like to provide the first forestry scholarships in 2020.  Establishing the fund through the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation provides donors with an additional incentive beyond the tax deductible contribution.  Contributions also qualify for the Endow Iowa Tax Credit Program.
