Black Hawk County Stewards of the Beautiful Land: Smith Prairie Walk

Come join field coordinator, Bri Hull at Daryl Smith Prairie on UNI’s campus for a prairie walk and history of one of the largest campus preserves system in Iowa. Smith Prairie was approved on the first Earth Day in 1970. Since then it has been populated by a variety of transplants from remnant prairies, seedings, burns, and more. Today, students use it for research, recreators use it for walking, and we can use it to learn about Iowa’s amazing landscape.

We will meet at the entrance at 9:00a. Please park along West 29th St. and be sure to wear long pants, a hat, and bring plenty of water!
