DESCRIPTION:Come join us at Hartman Nature Reserve for a native plant sale and plant ID workshop on May 30th! A variety of  native plants will be available for purchase from Blooming Prairie Nursery from 10:00 am. to 6:00 pm. Don’t forget to come by for one of the accompanying plant ID workshops. Amy Davison of Hartman Nature Reserve will lead us through Pollinator Parkway where she will highlight a variety of native species\, bloom schedules\, why the reserve chose to plant them\, and how to ID them in your own yard! Workshops will begin at 11:00 am\, 1:00 pm\, and 3:00 pm. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease park in the lot located at 657 Reserve Drive\, Cedar Falls\, IA. Reserve staff will be available for further instruction. Whether you represent a municipality\, park district\, forest preserve\, tree board or are simply wanting to engage with your fellow neighbors more effectively\, this training is for you!  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAt this workshop\, you will learn about how to sustain effective partnerships from Johari Cole-Kweli\, who currently serves as President and Managing Director of the Community Development Corporation of PHP\, a community-led organization in Pembroke-Hopkins Park\, IL.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEmily Ehley of Trees Forever will be teaching about tree equity and how it’s used. She has spent the majority of her career helping children and adults find joy in exploring the natural world around them and is an ISA certified arborist.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKarly Tumminello will be providing a brief overview of the NAAEE “Guidelines for Excellence” for community engagement. She is the Director/Curator of the Jurica-Suchy Nature Museum at Benedictine University in Lisle\, IL.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMichelle Ramos is the Program Coordinator for the Environmental Education Association of Illinois\, which works to bring national curriculums and programs to educators in Illinois. They will be leading an activity for participants to practice engaging stakeholders in decision making.

DESCRIPTION:Come join field coordinator\, Bri Hull at Daryl Smith Prairie on UNI’s campus for a prairie walk and history of one of the largest campus preserves system in Iowa. Smith Prairie was approved on the first Earth Day in 1970. Since then it has been populated by a variety of transplants from remnant prairies\, seedings\, burns\, and more. Today\, students use it for research\, recreators use it for walking\, and we can use it to learn about Iowa’s amazing landscape.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe will meet at the entrance at 9:00a. Please park along West 29th St. and be sure to wear long pants\, a hat\, and bring plenty of water!
