Individuals\, groups of people and organizations do an outstanding job across the state in planting and caring for trees within our communities. The 2023 event is themed Young Tree Care and will feature keynote speaker Dr. Richard Hauer. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDr. Richard Hauer\n\n\n\n\n\nRichard Hauer is the Director of Urban Forestry at CNUC and a Professor of Urban Forestry at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point teaching courses in urban forestry\, nursery management\, woody plants\, dendrology\, and introduction to forestry. He received his B.S. from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point\, M.S. from the University of Illinois\, and Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota. Rich has conducted research in tree biology\, urban forest management\, emerald ash borer management\, trees and construction\, tree risk management\, and ice storms. He was honored as the 2018 L.C. Chadwick Award for Arboricultural Research. He has published over 190 publications and presented over 480 talks throughout the world. Trees provide a myriad of benefits to homeowners including reduced home heating and cooling costs\, decreased stormwater\, shade for outdoor activities\, higher home values\, and enhanced beauty. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOrder Requirements \n\n\n\nCustomers can purchase no more than 2 trees per private property. If multiple properties are owned by a single individual\, two trees can be purchased by property. Each unique property address must be listed on the order form. Please bring your confirmation email showing species and locations purchased to the event. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCustomers must pick up their tree(s) during the event time listed. Volunteers are needed to help remove and treat invasive Garlic Mustard and Japanese Barberry. The eradication of these species will help native plants flourish in this outdoor gem of Linn County. Please dress for the weather and wear sturdy clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting beat up. Bring work gloves (limited supply will be available on site) and water.
